Warner Bros. has put up a new, extended trailer for Speed Racer on their website and the movie jumps off the screen. The effects are stunning and it could be the first blockbuster of the season. A couple of roles go to Asians. Most notably, Rain, the Justin Timberlake of Korea, who stars as Taejo, Speed Racer’s rival. Wasn’t this originally a Japanese product? Hollywood still shows unease at casting Asians in lead roles. Look at 21. This recent release is based on card-counting Asians who’s skills AND ethnicity were integral to their success. When it gets into Hollywood’s hands though, they feel more comfortable replacing the Asians. Yet, how comfortable is Hollywood replacing a “white” part with a minority? Nonetheless, I will see Speed Racer, though I won’t buy a ticket. I’ll sneak in. Hmmph. That’ll show Hollywood.

Once Speed Racer’s released, don’t be surprised if you see Larry Wachowski, one half of the Wachowski brothers and director of the movie, all over your tv screen. Supposedly, his sex change operation is complete. Larry is now Lana or Linda (depending on your sources) and he will tell all on NBC Dateline. This all according to Rated-M. The studio’s paranoid about Linda/Lara screwing up their little Speed Racer family film. So, Asians, you have company. Hollywood can’t handle Asians or transgenders.
