Nanking DVD out now, millions of Japanese say ‘oh crap’

The Nanking Massacre of 1937 is revisited in a new dvd release this week. Entitled Nanking, it centers on the period of time leading up to the Japanese conquest of the city of Nanking. The film features interviews with Chinese survivors of that time and also staged readings of writings from those who endured it.

The Japanese have historically been reluctant to admit involvement in the massacre. Meanwhile, the Chinese call Iris Chang, writer of “The Rape of Nanking”, a national hero. It’s become a he-said, she-said scenario.

Fortunately, President Hu of China has a scheduled visit with the Japanese government next week. This may be a good time to iron their differences out. China can present their traditional diplomacy gift, a panda bear. Japan has no national animal, so they might reciprocate with a super-duper hi-tech cell phone. Or a box of chocolates. Afterwards, China and Japan can have really hot make-up sex. The trailer under the cut.
