Meet Cung Le
When I’m not wrestling baby cubs or hunting wild boar, I relax by watching mixed martial arts. It’s a great feeling to know you can flatten 90% of the population with a punch. I should know, though I don’t condone violence. Far from it. Mixed martial arts (MMA) stresses respect for each other. There’s more bowing in MMA than in a Japanese business meeting. When your face has been rubbing against someone’s sweaty chest for 15 minutes, you can’t help but respect them.
In the Vietnamese community, we’ve got our own superhero. He goes by the name of Cung Le. The past five years, he’s been working towards one goal. Champion. And on March 29th, 2008, it happened.
Cung Le is now Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. Dude broke the other guy’s arm. With a kick! Now, he’s champion. This man will never pay for a boba drink again. Plus, he’s got some bit parts in Hollywood and an upcoming major role in Fighting. The San Jose Mercury News recently wrote an article about him. His biography is also a good read.
Keep up the good fight Cung!
