Rain stars in the recently released and critically panned, Speed Racer. This movie couldn’t even beat out What Happens in Vegas. Instead, it ended up in 3rd place earning about $20 million in its first week of release. Anyway, Rain has been drumming up publicity for the movie. People Magazine wrote up a short blurb, introducing the world to Rain. Great, except for one problem. They mistakenly put in a pic of Karl Yune, another Asian actor, in the article.

Someone grabbed a pic of a long-haired, Asian guy and assumed no one would notice. Or maybe they have a folder of pics labeled “Generic Asian people”. All across America, people will see this picture and think it’s Rain. People should do a better job of fact-checking. Next week, they will run a correction and print the real pic. Honestly though, someone in the Midwest who’s never been exposed to Asians is not going to say “Oh, now I see the difference. And all along, I thought that other guy was Rain.”
