April is John Cho Month
Not only does Mr. Milf have Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay coming out April 25th, he’s also got West 32nd. This world premieres on April 28th at the Tribeca Film Festival. He plays a young lawyer who infiltrates the Korean underworld in Manhattan. Hmm..well, based on the trailer, I’d give it two stars. At least we’ve reached the point where it’s okay to criticize an Asian film. Before, you felt obligated to support an Asian film, no matter what, since it was the only product out there.
On the other hand, Harold and Kumar will blow up. Its only competition on its release date is probably Baby Mama with Tina Fey. Wait, what am I saying?! Its only competition will be from the previous week. 88 Minutes with Al Pacino drops as does The Forbidden Kingdom with Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Maybe Forgetting Sarah Marshall will have a chance. My advice? Go see The Forbidden Kingdom. 88 Minutes will end up being at best, a serviceable, generic drama best seen at your dollar theater. And aren’t we getting too much exposure to the whole Judd Apatow gang?
My pick? Harold and Kumar hits #1 for one week and one week only. The following week, Iron Man hits the theaters and nothing can stop Iron Man and his protective armor.
